hobby - model aircraft A hobby is an activity that people like to do for pleasure in their free time. For example, you may like reading books in your spare time. Or gardening or blogging.

Note the difference between hobby and job. It's like the difference between amateur and professional. In the first case, you get no money and you do it just because you love it. In the second case, you get money (a wage or salary). You may or may not love it :-)
