Russian school teachers

Unread post by SkypeEnglish »

I have been a private English tutor to Russians since 2013. I teach via Skype. Here, I am looking for Russian school teachers who continually suffer from spoken English challenges.

I have identified 2 problems that are very common:

1)Russian English language teachers have a perennial problem with English phonetics. They cannot discriminate between the phonemes accurately. Consequently, they experience "mondegreens" in regular conversation.

2) Too much focus on grammar makes them inhibited speakers.

I agree with you, they think too much about grammar and make more mistakes :)
And they always put ''the'' before every single word :D

I've been teaching English to Russians for ten years in the Moscow region, Rublevka. None of my Russian students have pronunciation problems. Of course grammar is not focused, and skills taught should be in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Many are of good British English accent.
