Libya jobs

Unread post by daviddd22 »

I have been thinking about teaching in Libya for 18months - 3 years.

Does anyone have ANY idea about the following job providers?:
Al Saqr Al Hur for Educational Services
SRS Bureau
Kortag International

Jobs in the desert seem to be well-paid £18k +, plus free accom., food, laundry, generous breaks etc.

Does anyone have any contacts who have direct experience?
Any horror stories?

Any feedback would be welcome.

Just a word of advice - those companies sound like recruitment agencies. They take a slice of the pie (ie. your wages) 18K is pretty low for that area of the world, You should be commanding at least $250 a day. There are jobs with better pay. If EFL Teachers take low pay positions such as these it only devalues our worth...and I know we all work hard so we should be paid well.
So don't let these guys dictate the rate of pay.
Take care and good luck

You should avoid Al Saqr Al Hur Ed Serv and its sleezy proprietor Hakim Zreeg like the plague.

The man is a con artist.

I think you may have a chance with some small private language schools for adults. Why don't you try contacting some now to gauge their reaction. This will help you make a more informed decision. Please remember that schools that accept teachers without the full qualifications don't usually pay the best and don't have the best working conditions. The choice is yours really but it should be possible to get a job.
