Minimal Pair /tʃ/ and /dʒ/

as in cheap and jeep

Below are lists of words that vary only by one having the sound /tʃ/ and the other the sound /dʒ/ in the same position.

You can use this list to practise the sounds, or as a list of words to be careful in pronouncing.

These two are pronounced with exactly the same mouth position but /dʒ/ uses the voice, whereas /tʃ/ is just a sudden puff of air similar to a sneeze.
