Re: How to improve grammar & vocabulary?
Hello there,
Here are some tips for you... in order of priority:
1. Read in English. Read whatever they can, be it novels, a magazine, the newspaper, it doesn’t matter. Whatever subject they like they should read about it in English. Constant reading in English helps all aspects of language sink in and is particularly useful for grammar, and those verb tenses they are struggling with. There is no need to look up words that students don’t know, the key thing is to understand the overall meaning and absorb the syntax, grammar and expressions. Reading well-written English leads to mastery.
2. Keep a notebook and learn ten new words a day, these words can be verb tenses and short phrases, not just vocabulary words. On day one learn ten new words. The words are written in English on the left and the native language on the right. Cover the English side and say the words down the list. Keep doing it until the list of ten is known perfectly without looking once for a reminder. Know how to say the words and how to spell them.
The next day the student learns ten more words and revises the ten from the day before. Keep going all week and on the 7th day the student learns ten new words, ten from the day before and revises ten from the week before. And then at one month the student looks at 40 words, ten new, ten from the day before, ten from the week before and ten from the month before.
That works!
Basically there is no way around it, the more effort students put in the more they will get out of those two hours in English class.
3. Watch any TV or movies in English.
4. Favour listening to music in English and learn all the lyrics.
And in the English classes I would focus on speaking as much as you can because the students can read and write in their own time and for homework, but often the only place they can speak English is in your class.
Let me know your thoughts and add any of your own ideas!
All the best

I agree with "Watch TV" wholeheartedly.
Especially watch cartoons like the Simpsons, Family.
It's a great way to learn about the current culture and conversational English.
I would say this method applies to learning all languages properly. Helped me out a lot!

This is so true. Kids learn languages so fast while watching cartoons in foreign languages.

Re: How to improve grammar & vocabulary?
Hey! From my own experience, I have to say that the best way to improve your grammar is practicing and everyday work on self-development. First of all, try to maintain your time and spend at least an hour per day for studying English. One month of tough work and you will definitely realize how your struggle would be awarded. You may test different sources and techniques of learning, but I am going with forums and social networks. Once you accidentally stumble on a topic of discussion you are interested in - just write and express your thoughts. Don`t be afraid of mistakes or misunderstandings. Very soon you will notice your progress and find a new inspiration to continue with English.
Apart from the social networks, I might admit the crucial importance of grammar exercises which you can find online or in different textbooks. Pay more attention to tenses, gerunds, and conditionals.
Speaking about vocabulary, I advise using online apps like https://www.memrise.com/ or https://www.duolingo.com/. They are easy to handle and provide a wide range of topics together with interactive tasks to solve.
Good luck with your learning!

Reading daily newspaper is the best way to improve the grammar and vocabulary. While reading, you come across many new words which you can find the meaning and use in your sentences. This for sure will improve the vocabulary. Also, make habit of speaking English in your house and working places. Words from other people also teaches a lot of vocabulary.

How can we speak better language with grammar? Suppose you are able to speak a few words of a new foreign language, you will become more and more sensitive to the correctness of the usage of the language with regard to its grammar. It is important to practice a learning habit to speak good grammar but how, especially if your profession requires you to learn and yet you have little time to spare for school.

Read books, watch YouTube, listen to your favorite music. The main thing is more practice, don't just read books, find someone with whom you can speak the language. This applies not only to English. What is your level? Choose a book that you like.

I think that listening to music is a great way to learn, but sometimes it is difficult alone when you can't tell if the words have been adjusted to fit the rhythm.

Re: How to improve grammar & vocabulary?
This is a big topic with countless articles of research attached to it.
It depends on who you are. What are your goals?
If you plan on doing academic study at a university in an English speaking country, then I believe a page a day of a grammar book and lots of writing about the topics you read about is essential. You must be able to have that meta language about grammar to take on feedback from your teachers. Watch and read the subtitles on
If you just want to speak to foreigners, many of my past students enjoy watching sitcoms like 'friends'. If you plan to travel to Australia, for example, try watching Australian soap operas. This will get you more aware of the accents. Grammar tends to be less important than when you need to be able to write academic essays! So learn lots of phrases from different contexts. Obviously, practise with others as much as possible too.
For both these ends of the spectrum, I believe that grammar and vocabulary must be learnt as a single unit.
Which vocabulary goes with a grammar point is a type of collocation. This type of improvement rarely comes from specific ESL texts. Textbooks are improving these days though.
As someone else mentioned above, write your own meaningful vocabulary lists as you encounter words, phrases and grammar. And revise it at least a dozen times in different ways so that it goes into memory.
USE IT OR LOSE IT!

According to my learning experience, learning vocabulary can refer to the Ebbinghaus memory curve. In addition, the vocabulary will be remembered more firmly in the example sentences and contexts.

Re: How to improve grammar & vocabulary?
My friend, I can tell you that the best way to develop grammar and vocabulary is practice. I can recommend you to sign up for a tutor or group classes, they will be very useful. I used to do a lot of written assignments to master the basics. I even made a manuscript typing, which helped me a lot in the future when I started communicating with native speakers on my own. And in general, it's probably best when you combine individual lessons with group lessons. That way, you can understand and communicate with others more.

To improve your grammar naturally, you need to immerse yourself in the language more than learning the rules.
As children, we pick up structures naturally. We do this by simply listening and observing conversations.
Listen to podcasts and try to conversate as much as possible.

Read Regularly: Reading books, articles, newspapers, and other written materials exposes you to a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures. Choose material that interests you and challenges your current level of proficiency.
Learn New Words: Make a habit of learning a few new words every day. Use vocabulary-building techniques such as flashcards, mnemonic devices, and context-based learning to reinforce your understanding of new words.
Use a Thesaurus: When writing or speaking, use a thesaurus to find synonyms and expand your vocabulary. Experiment with different words to express the same idea and learn their nuances.
Practice Writing: Regular writing practice helps reinforce grammar rules and vocabulary usage. Start a journal, blog, or participate in online forums where you can write regularly and receive feedback from others.
Grammar Exercises: Work on grammar exercises and quizzes to reinforce your understanding of grammar rules and improve your accuracy. Many websites and textbooks offer grammar exercises tailored to different proficiency levels.
Listen Actively: Pay attention to spoken language in podcasts, movies, TV shows, and conversations. Listen for grammatical structures and new vocabulary words, and try to incorporate them into your own speech and writing.
Language Apps and Tools: Use language-learning apps and online tools that offer grammar lessons, vocabulary drills, and interactive exercises. These resources often provide personalized feedback and progress tracking to help you improve.
Join Language Groups or Classes: Joining language groups, clubs, or classes can provide opportunities for structured practice and interaction with others who are also learning. Group discussions, debates, and language games can be fun ways to reinforce grammar and vocabulary skills.
Seek Feedback: Ask for feedback from teachers, tutors, or language exchange partners on your grammar and vocabulary usage. Constructive feedback can help you identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
Be Patient and Persistent: Improving grammar and vocabulary takes time and consistent effort. Be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way. Stay motivated by setting achievable goals and tracking your progress over time.

Re: How to improve grammar & vocabulary?
To enhance your grammar and vocabulary, consider incorporating regular reading and writing exercises into your routine. Reading diverse materials, such as books, articles, and even messaging conversations, exposes you to different writing styles and vocabulary. Additionally, actively engaging in messaging conversations with friends or language exchange partners can provide practical opportunities to apply grammar rules and learn new words in context. Experiment with expressing ideas creatively and concisely in your messages, and don't hesitate to look up unfamiliar words to expand your vocabulary. Over time, consistent practice and exposure will help improve both your grammar and vocabulary skills.
