It really depends on what you are studying.

For example, graphical design and computer science may require a higher performing laptop than one who just needs something to take notes.

I do like and own the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, which is not a laptop but a 2 in 1 tablet.

I don't recommend getting an Macbook unless you are in multimedia.
