Wing Chun Kuen or better known as Wing Chun (詠春), is a concept-based traditional Southern Chinese Kung fu (wushu) style and a form of self-defense, that requires quick arm movements and strong legs to defeat opponents. Softness (via relaxation) and performance of techniques in a relaxed manner is fundamental to Wing Chun. One name that is synonymous with Wing Chun is Ip Man, a Chinese martial artist who is a master of this practice. He trained several students who went on to become martial arts masters in their own right, including Bruce Lee.
You might remember the box office hit Ip Man (2008) that showcased the life of Wing Chun Grandmaster Ip Man. The film focuses on events in Ip’s life that took place in Foshan (Guangdong Province) during the Sino-Haanese War. The fighting style has been incorporated into many tv series and games such as Tekken through analyzing close movement.
