Her son, the prince has become a lord with a bald head, and can take public bus and subway in China without paying fees because he has reached the senior age that deserves the social benefit, but he has not yet got a decent job in his 70s. Today's Japanese emperor followed the suit of this Chinese king. So he could enjoy himself more and teach his son how to govern the empire properly. In today's words, it means how to achieve sustainable development of the kingdom. So I think the UK Queen in this case is too much selfish.

In the UK the head of state remains in that position until death, unless beguiled by an American divorcee or decapitated by British commoners. The position of head of state is not a toy for Her Majesty to dispose of as she will. And it is certainly not a question of selfishness on her part. Other countries may do things differently and that is up to them. Some, I believe, may no longer even have an emperor or king.
