Hi,

I am a new member too.

I've just listen the interview of the President Of United States, and I believe it's better for the first time to listen that without subtitle to try to understand by ourself the global meaning .Indeed if we are still stuck we click on them.

I'ts just my mind.

Have a nice day.

Here are a couple of good sites for learning English with the news.

http://newsy.com - they have short news reports with a full transcript, so you can listen and read at the same time
http://newser.com - short, uncomplicated news reports on all the big stories
http://learningenglish.voanews.com/ - Voice of America - has some news stories with a full transcript.+

Are there any other sites you find useful?

Learning English through watching news video or listening to audio or radios are a good approach to practice your listening skills. It's quite convinient to listen compare to watch some courses formally.

It's a good idea! I think by reading news, we can learn lots of new words and new expression that we don't know.

Totally agree. So that's why I start my morning watching or reading news

I also watch lots of news in English. Mostly through satellite but YouTube is useful too. I began doing it decades ago. It gives the possibility to hear the difference between British and American pronunciation.

It is great to keep up to date with current trends as it can be a conversation starter.

Though I do advise those who are in the early stages of their learning to read the news rather than watch, as it gives you more time to dissect.
