Suppose that you and your friend are having a casual conversation. He is complaining about all his bad experiences working at ABC Company. His complaint reminds you that two days ago, you went to your cousin's birthday party and met a gentleman who also had many bad experiences working at a police station.
(1) You say to your friend, "I am sorry to hear about the unpleasant experiences of yours and those of a gentlemen who I met at my cousin's birthday party."
Most of my non-native English friends think the green part of my example sounds okay. However, my other friends think it is not okay.
May I hear your opinion? Thank you.
