Present Continuous
Can I use the Present Continuous in timetables and scheduled events as well as the simple Present?

Re: Present Continuous
The train leaves at 8am every day. OK
The train is leaving at 8am every day. NOT OK
Is that what you mean? If not, please clarify.

Re: Present Continuous
Thanks so much for your reply
the sentence is....
the plane (reach) at 6.30 tomorrow.
some teachers correct it the plane reaches at 6.30 a. m tomorrow as it's present simple for scheduled events
but others said
we can also use present Cotinuous in specific cases and say
the plane is reaching at 6.30 a. m tomorrow.
Could it be?

Re: Present Continuous
This is possible. It is using the Present Continuous to talk about the future, like:
- We are having a party tomorrow OK
In that sense almost all events are scheduled. But if we are really talking about timetabled events we don’t use Present Continuous.
- We have a party every Friday OK
- We are having a party every Friday NOT OK
PS: please note that “reach” needs an object:
- My plane reaches Moscow at 6 OK
- My plane is reaching Moscow at 6 OK
- My plane is reaching Moscow at 6 every day NOT OK
- We are having a party tomorrow OK
