Hello! I'd be very grateful for your help in finding out how to name baby rabbits/hares correctly. On the internet it is said that they are scientifically calledr kittens or kits. But as far as I got it, native speakers don't refer to them as kits, people name them bunnies.
I'm a teacher and I need to tell my students the right option for real life communication.

Normally bunny or bunny rabbit. (At least in British English)

Bunny doesn't have to mean baby rabbit, it can be used for adult rabbits too. Think of the Easter Bunny.

Bunny is just a cute, childish word for that animal, similar to doggy or pussy cat.
