"we're going to" vs. "let's"

Post by shiqangpan »

Consider the conversation that comes from Cambridge Kid's Box
...

ALVIN: That's a really exciting job! I'm going to be a firefighter.

SHARI: Well, now we know what we're going to write about in this week's ezine – jobs!

DAN: Let's write about famous people's jobs!
Could DAN have said
we're going to write about famous people's jobs
?

Not really. They've just come up with the idea of writing about "jobs" and Dan is suggesting refining that to "famous people's jobs".

Thank you.

I understand the "Dan suggesting famous people's jobs" part. I don't understand the difference between the two he might use
Let's write about famous people's jobs!
and
We're going to write about famous people's jobs!
Would you please explain it a little more?
