Is it natural to use "thought-provoking" to describe a dinosaur exhibition for kids?

Post by shiqangpan »

I understand the adjective "thought-provoking" could be used to describe something such as a book or a movie. If the book or movie is thought-provoking, it contains interesting ideas that make people think seriously.

Is it natural to use "thought-provoking" to describe a dinosaur exhibition for kids? If not, what expression I could use to convey the idea that the exhibition makes kids want to learn more about dinosaurs?

ANSWER
I can't see anything wrong with using this adjective because any educational exhibition should stimulate or encourage kids to think seriously about things.

If you were the owner or organiser of this exhibition and you wanted to encourage schools and parents to bring their kids, then you could attract them by using these words:

SYNONYMS FOR thought-provoking from Thesuaus.com
absorbing
captivating
exciting
fascinating
gripping
inspirational
interesting
intriguing
provocative
riveting
stirring
stimulating

An author may intend to "provoke thought" when they assume that the intended thinker is reluctant to do so.
This is risky, because the thoughts provoked may NOT promote the interests of the original author.

The "thoughts provoked" by museums might include the authenticity of the collection, the agenda of the interpretations, etc.
