What's the job of being a collection account representative?

Could anyone kindly tell me what a collection account representative does? :

I'm not 100% sure but I think it means someone responsible for collecting money that people owe to a company. They do things like send out statements, reminders, threatening letters and dogs ;) . They make telephone calls to people who haven't paid their invoices. They pass the matter to the legal department when it gets serious.
