Go to EC's home page: on the left you will find a link called "vocabulary". Then type the word you need to have explained and read the results. That link takes to the online Cambridge Vocabulary, a very good one with clear explainations and examples. Hope this helps...

He looks happy, doesn't he ? I don't think so.
He is so unhappy. He has so many problems.
He is so unhappy that he tried once to kill himself.
He had ten or so friends, but they are all ded. One had a cancer, one was alcoholic and ded by driving out, and so on.
Is that so ? I think so. So do I.
So long !

His mother is too sad for him. His father, too.
His brother is too selfish to think about him. His brother always thinks "one too many on my path".
Don't you think it is very sad ? Too right !

My mother, very realistic, said :

"There are very many people in this situation.
They become very lonely because of the phenomen "I don't care.".
They have very little luck (or no luck).
The very first friend that they have met was finally not a real friend. The very next day they were betrayed, injured or abused.
At the very latest one week later they felt lonely. rejected.
Some of them walk to the very end. But even at the very end they are not helped."

Those were her very words.

So, I am very hungry; are you hungry too?

but:

I am so very hungry too.

and:

So, are you very hungry? I am too. Let's go to the restaurant that has two-for-one specials so we can save some money. I'm very broke.

All of that writing about hunger made me hungry...
