I am always confused by the two words. and some friends told me there is no difference, but others told me there are some differences. I always can't get this point.

Isn't there the same difference in your language ?

One thing is said common when two or more entities. For example, madness is a common quality to Unknownsu and you.

One thing is said normal when it is common to the majority of a group. Liking sex is normal for men. Refusing some meat is normal for muslims. Loving a man is not normal for a man. :? [I don't like this definition, but it is unhappily real. People not is the norm are said abnormal and often discriminitated.]

One thing can be said when it (its behaviour) is expectable, possible. It is normal that your child asks many question. Your sister doesn't eat more, it is not normal.

There are probably other definitions and use of these two words.
