Pronunciation th
Hi everyone, I'm a beginner of the English language. I'm trying to learn phonetics or better to speak English. The words where I find it difficult are those with th. Although I recognize the sound of th for example "the" "this" in a pronunciation almost 100%, speech recognition programs fail to understand the word I pronounce. Other words with different sounds recognize them. I also noticed a difference; on the bbc website they make the sound and how the th is done with his tongue between his teeth and throwing the air out. In the speech of a video mini dialogue I notice that any participant does not use the tongue between the teeth when using words like the think etc. etc. Here I would like to understand how can I understand the correct pronunciation? Do you have any solutions? Sorry but I'm Italian

It may help you to know that there are TWO different "TH" sounds. They are: /θ/ and /ð/aquilafree wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 6:34 pm Hi everyone, I'm a beginner of the English language. The difference is that:
/θ/ is voiceless
/ð/ is voiced
I could recommend that you check these pages for more details and explanations and audio:

Re: Pronunciation th
but I probably say it the right way for so many times that I have tried it only that I would like confirmations I should find who to talk to but I haven't found him so far. With PC programs, I recognize the wrong pronunciation, but I also know that these programs are not reliable
