Political Correctness has gone too far.

political correctnes: the avoidance of language (or actions) that may insult or hurt certain groups of people.

For example, some people feel that it is wrong to use the words HE or MAN when talking about people in general, because this excludes women. In another example, they prefer the use of a word like CHAIRPERSON as a neutral alternative to CHAIRMAN or CHAIRWOMAN. They say that words that may be insulting to people because of their colour, race or culture should be carefully avoided.

Being politically correct means that you r sensitive about other people of different genders, races, colors, religions, countries etc. Though, it may sound strange, but u need that as u come in contact with different people. This will actually make your life easier and you can get your message/ideas accross without much problem.

I think it is neccessary to be polite and not to hurt any one we are talking to intentionally, but on the other hand the person or who ever we are talking to should not be very sensitive and hunt after every single word or statement we say and discover some hidden statements of hatred and joke hwich we did not by anyway intented to enclude or hide in or speach(I don't no how they arrived to these conclusions)

it's disturbing how so many people don't see through this as the mass control device that it truly is.

allow me to elaborate... "political correctness" or "being politically correct" can be defined as "the actions taken so as to not offend a race, group, sex, minority etc... etc..." this is done by compromising the values of another party.

let's assume any custom/belief can be had, as long as it does not violate the rights or customs of another person. peachy right? political correctness circumvents this by expecting change on one or both parties.

party (A) changing custom so as not to offend party (B) is, like it or not, indirect oppression from party (B).

for happiness on both sides, the only required variable is "respect". and respect dictates that nothing must change. this is not however the be all and end all, respect does already protect the groups who were supposed to benefit and be protected with political correctness. originally it came about for women's rights, anti-racism and other noble causes.

still it's a flawed premise that's already been embraced by the masses, where respect should be, however is not.

As for the subject. Words in political life don't hurt groups of people. The groups hide behind used termes because it's their only weapon, to analyze the words used and attack words becouse they can attack the meaning and the truth.Don't argue with me, you know it's true.

Our Australian PM once conplaining about history class in our primary and secondary school. the fact is that many history books are not accurate when dealing with the Aborigines issue. I think we do need to correct all of that kind of misunderstanding. It's not about the political correctness but to get to the fact.

Ah , this is really an interesting topic .Insult or hurt others are bad actions that we should avoid .However ,right in this topic I see guest insult another .
In English , when talking about an unknown person ,we usually use HE ,not She .So what is the reason ? It is an unfair thing .And it came from the gender discrimination in the past to now ?
